Director of Governance & Executive Operations
The Director of Governance and Executive Operations supports our global governance structures and global team in driving forward a 6-year strategy that will significantly expand our organization’s reach and impact. This position manages Board relations and plays a key role in global strategy and planning, culture, and decision-making. As a trusted advisor to the CEO and member of the Leadership Team, this role works within the epicenter of a global organization working at the forefront of gender, fragile & conflict affected states, and poverty.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and execute a systematic onboarding process for new International Board and US Board of Advisors members and design and implement orientation sessions for new UK and Germany board members on the organization’s international governance structure
· Maintain up to date onboarding materials for all board members
· Strategic management of all International Board committees and coordination with National Board liaisons to ensure high quality meetings and discussions that engage and inspire Board members. This includes overseeing preparation and organization and reporting from, and attending all, governance meetings.
· Ensure all governance documents (MOUs between legal entities, charters, etc) remain up to date and support on all governance/executive reporting (such as to the UK Charity Commission or donors in relation to Executive/Governance matters)
· Ensure governance-related topics and issues are addressed in a timely manner by the appropriate members of the Board or staff
· Coordinate preparation and dissemination of Board meeting materials for all International Board meetings and committees
· Serve as the lead staff liaison to the Governance & Culture Committee, working with the Committee Chair to agree workplans, agendas, prepare content and keep committee members engaged
· Establish and maintain an extranet/board communications portal and system
· Lead support to the International Chair in fulfilling her role
· Support the governance p transition of the Women’s Opportunity Center (WOC) from WfWI to WfW-Rwanda
· Manage the Governance Officer (currently 50% time)
· Develop and implement reporting tool to monitor and track progress on strategy, key initiatives and organizational commitments and priorities including the Power Journey
1. Act as a trusted counsel to LT, providing insights and analysis on the organization’s operations, key decisions, and other business areas and guide and support on the management of strategic reporting and use of data to inform strategic decisions
· Provide direct and indirect support to global administrative staff in support of the cross-functional objectives of the organization
· In collaboration with the Operations team, support annual planning & budgeting process as it links to Executive role on strategy
· Take on leadership/coordination of cross divisional projects as they arise (in past has included refresh of organizational values, development of leadership principles, organizing coaching for the LT, leading the COVID Task Force, establishing the DEI Council, etc)
· Manage the budget of the Executive Team
· Manage the Executive Officer, ensuring calendar/time and internal communications of the CEO are effectively managed
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (10% of time)
· Co-lead or take part in the organization’s Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council and, if post holder is in the US, the US Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Council
External Engagement
· When appropriate, represent in deputy capacity for the CEO at Board or committee meetings and external and fundraising events
